Debunking the God’s Timing Myth

Why Waiting on God Is a modern myth

There is a prevailing belief among many that God’s timing is the determining factor behind the fulfillment of our dreams and desires. Countless individuals have attributed their lack of progress to the notion that they are still waiting on God’s go-ahead or that they are being pruned by God before receiving blessings. However, when we examine the life of Jesus and delve into the word we find compelling evidence that challenges this prevailing myth.

It’s a common refrain to hear someone say, “God hasn’t given me the green light yet,” or “God is still pruning me so i haven’t received ABCD.” But does this perspective align with the example set by Jesus himself? The answer is a resounding NO. Jesus did not wait for external confirmation or rely on a specific timing determined by God. Instead, He walked with the conviction that God’s answer was always “yes” and “amen.”

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” This verse emphasizes that through Jesus, we have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing. It suggests that God’s desire is not for us to wait endlessly for His blessings but to embrace and access the blessings that are already available to us.

Another important passage that challenges the notion of waiting on God is found in 2 Corinthians 1:20: “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” This verse highlights that God’s promises are fulfilled in Christ, and they are not contingent upon a waiting period or specific timing. The idea that we need to wait for God to prune or refine us before receiving blessings is not supported by the word.

It is essential to remember that God is not glorified when we lack the things we desire. Just as a father takes no pleasure in seeing his child dressed in rags, God desires to see us thrive and experience His goodness. The prevailing myth of waiting on God falsely suggests that delaying our blessings somehow brings glory to God. On the contrary, Scripture teaches us that God’s desire is for us to live in abundance and victory.

The Bible reassures us in 1 John 5:4, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” Our faith is the key that unlocks the victory already achieved for us through Christ. It is not about us striving to overcome the world, but rather trusting in what God has already accomplished. Faith empowers us to navigate through trials, problems, and stumbling blocks, for we are sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26).

Ephesians 3:20 affirms that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, not according to our waiting, but according to the power that works in us. This verse underscores the importance of the power of God at work within us, enabling us to move forward and experience the fullness of His blessings.

Ultimately, thanks to God, we have already received the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57). Salvation itself is a gift of God, not something we need to wait for or earn through our own efforts (Ephesians 2:8).

Embracing Your Identity in Christ

In conclusion, the prevalent myth of waiting on God’s timing as a prerequisite for receiving blessings is debunked when we examine the life and teachings of Jesus and study the Scriptures. Jesus did not wait for external confirmation or a specific timing determined by God; He walked in faith, knowing that God’s answer was always “yes” and “amen.” Instead of waiting indefinitely, we are called to embrace the blessings that God has already provided through Christ and to live in victory through our faith.
