The Empowered Christian: Overcoming Fear of Demonic Powers

They are disarmed

As a Christian, it is essential to understand the authority and power that you possess through your faith in Jesus Christ. One area where believers often struggle is dealing with the fear of demonic powers. However, the Bible provides clear and comforting reassurances that as followers of Christ, we should not be afraid, for these powers have been disarmed and rendered toothless(no arms and teeth LOL). Through Jesus’ victory on the cross, we have been united with Him, and we now possess the authority to triumph over any spiritual forces. Let us delve into the biblical foundation that assures us of our triumph over these powers.

Disarming the Powers

The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Colossians (2:15), declares that Jesus disarmed the powers and authorities through His sacrificial death on the cross. By willingly laying down His life, Jesus not only paid the price for our sins but also triumphed over the forces of darkness. This victory was made evident through His resurrection, which demonstrated His power over death and all spiritual powers. As Christians, we are called to embrace this truth and live in the assurance that these powers have been rendered powerless.

United with Christ:

The Bible teaches us that when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become one with Him. In 1 Corinthians 6:17, Paul affirms, “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” This spiritual union with Christ signifies that we share in His victory over all spiritual powers. It means that we possess the same authority and power that Jesus exercised during and post His earthly ministry. As believers, we do not battle principalities but simply assert the victory that Jesus already accomplished; we are united with the ultimate conqueror.

Above All Powers

Ephesians 1:19-22 further reinforces our position of authority as Christians. It states, “and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” This passage emphasizes that the power at work within us is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Therefore, we are positioned above all spiritual powers and principalities.

Living Fearlessly

Knowing that we are united with Christ and that He has disarmed all powers, we can live fearlessly. It is important to remember that fear is not from God but is a tool used by the enemy to undermine our faith and confidence. Instead of succumbing to fear, we must exercise our authority through believing what has been acomplished by Jesus on the cross. By aligning ourselves with God’s truth, we can confidently assert the victory which was already had.

As Christians, we should not be afraid of any demonic power because, through Jesus Christ, they have been disarmed and rendered usless. Our unity with Christ and the authority we possess enable us to triumph over all. By embracing these biblical truths, we can live fearlessly, knowing that the power of God is at work within us. So, let us walk in confidence, relying on the strength and authority we have in Christ, as we fulfill our purpose and advance God’s Kingdom on earth.
